“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:6
The angel atop the rock was talking to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary. They had just arrived to the tomb of Jesus, before sunrise. What were they doing there? The previous verse tells us: “I know you seek Jesus”. They were seeking Jesus. You don’t seek something you know where it is. I don’t seek my car in the garage but I do seek my chihuahua that slips out the gate and he is not in the backyard, where he is supposed to be. These two women of faith, remembered the words of Jesus. They treasured His words in their hearts. They believed His words. Jesus told all the people that He was the sign of Jonah, that He would rise on the third day. Apparently, only 2 believed Him: Mary Magdalene and the other Mary. Dos Marys. The 11 were sleepy heads and dead heads. Mary and Mary sought the Lord because they knew He was going to rise on the third day, that He wasn’t going to be in the tomb. They went looking for Him. They loved Jesus and Jesus loved them. O Lord, give me the strength and faith of two women. I want to be like Ruth.
