How is Coaching Different from Counseling?

Coaching and counseling can be bedfellows, but they serve 2 different purposes.

Therapy focuses on long-term treatment and understanding deep-seated issues from your past.

While coaching is identifying what you want, taking action and making changes now. In therapy, it’s about exploring and processing. In coaching, it’s about planning and executing.

In coaching, many clients see positive results in just 3-5 hours, as it focuses future-oriented strategies over past issues addressed in counseling. The good news is that coaching can also complement counseling when both professionals collaborate for your success.

How Does NBS Coaching Work?

Expertise on Both Ends

Think of it as combining your knowledge of your destination with the coach's know-how of the best routes. You bring your dreams, goals, and experiences, and your coach brings the strategies and insights to make the trip smooth. Together, it's a win-win, with your success being their ultimate destination.

Flexible Duration

This is your journey. You set the pace and frequency. Each session is broken into three 20-minute blocks, forming a full hour. While we typically meet weekly, you can adjust the schedule to fit your needs.

Choose Your Route

Your coach will meet you wherever you are. Sessions can be done over FaceTime, Zoom, phone call, or in-person. The only consideration is to hold the meeting in a quiet, comfortable spot so there are no distractions and the focus is on you.

Flat Rate

Coaching costs $150 per hour, and most clients start with a two-hour package for $300. It's an investment in your personal growth, with no hidden fees or detours.

Solution-Focused Journey

Our coaching is action-oriented, goal-directed, and client-centered. We're all about finding solutions, setting goals, and making you feel good about your progress.

How Are We Different?

NBS Coaches are not your typical life coaches — we’re your trusted navigators on this journey. With every session, we bring these essential traits to the table, ensuring you not only reach your goals but also feel respected, heard, and supported along the way.

We believe in No Bullshit coaching. We cut through the fluff because when you’re ready to make a change, it’s time to get to work. Honest, clear, and direct coaching is essential — anything less is a disservice to your goals.

Timing is everything. Just like in comedy, sports, and relationships, the moment is now. When you come to us, you bring with you anticipation and readiness. That strength and excitement deserve respect from your coach.

We don’t waste time—we get straight to business, ready to guide you with precision and purpose. Your journey to success starts with NBS coaching. Your path to greatness is here.

My dad put his hands on my shoulders, looked me in the eyes and said, “I trust you. You have a level head on your shoulders.” I was 16 years old and about to drive with 3 friends to visit a university six hours away for the weekend. I returned on Sunday having had a positive first flight of independence and my parents were relieved I came home safely. A few years later my younger sister died in a car accident. Children come home so many times. And sometimes they never do.

Fast forward 40 years. I have been married since 1994. My husband and I have three adult children. For 45 years, I worked enthusiastically caring for people as a dental hygienist. When my parents moved closer to me, I retired from dental hygiene to assist them in the difficult journey that awaited them.

Now, I enter a new season, as my husband and I navigate being empty nesters — I am pursuing opportunities to engage purposefully with people as a certified life coach. I am a Certified Professional Life Coach through Baylor University’s Professional Education Program and a coaching mentoring trainee through the International Association of Recovery Coaches.

My passion in coaching is to help others recognize their strengths, set goals, and equip them to move forward through life’s challenges with peace, clarity, gained confidence, and success.

I believe in the extraordinary potential within each of us. My mission is to help you tap into your strengths, overcome obstacles, and achieve goals you once thought were out of reach. With my guidance, you’ll gain the confidence and clarity to navigate your path with determination and grace.

When we work together, we can unlock the greatness within you and create a life filled with purpose, fulfillment, and success. You can achieve anything, and I am here to help you every step of the way.
